Best Practices

The practices set out below are followed at Rajat Public School as a matter of routine, and are reviewed by the Principal at the end of every session.

Planning

The academic calendar is designed before the session begins

The calendar for the coming session is prepared at the outset and integrates both scholastic and co-scholastic activities, so that examinations, projects, sports, cultural events and holidays are settled in advance rather than announced at short notice.

Mentoring

Best practices are presented and shared with mentee schools

The school takes part in interactive sessions with its mentor school and with mentee schools, at which practices adopted by each are presented and discussed. What emerges from those discussions is refined and then implemented in the respective schools.

Progression

Every student is helped to move from one level to the next

No child is left to fall behind quietly. Each student is moved from one level of attainment to the next higher level with the active support and guidance of the teacher, and the teacher is answerable for that movement.

Records

Teachers’ records are maintained and monitored periodically

Lesson plans, the teacher’s diary, student attendance registers and student progress records are maintained efficiently at the school level. These are monitored periodically by the Principal, not merely collected.

Training

Workshops are organised for teachers through the year

Workshops are held for the teaching staff on Life Skills Education, Problem Solving Assessment, Leadership Skills, Student Counselling, Career Counselling, Classroom Management, the development of higher-order questions, and values-based education and its assessment.

Further workshops address enhancing student performance through greater involvement and motivation, Open Text Based Assessment, Assessment of Speaking and Listening skills, the assessment of long answer questions, and multidisciplinary projects.
